Nico is fourteen and crazy, at least by everyone else's standards. In sleepy Suburbia, Texas, gossips latch like leeches onto anything and everything even remotely remarkable. When Nico enters high school, his too-familiar last name causes old news to resurface, and suddenly, his private life is the new talk of the town.
Nico just wants to graduate with a decent GPA and go on dates with his larger-than-life boyfriend Will, but navigating the halls of Goode High is near impossible when you're followed by the grave reputation of your years-graduated sister. Really, everyone needs to move on already. It's all in the past... isn't it?

Plus, he's in love with the hopelessly beautiful Percy Jackson. His death triggers a lot of things for him, and shines light on a lot of his unresolved trauma. Will Nico be able to make it through this without his mental stability completely breaking once and for all? Will Nico be able to let people in enough to help him get through it? And what about the mysterious dreams that Nico keeps having of his mom? And who really is this little girl that knows nothing about her past? In this sequel to Out of the Shadows, Nico sees familiar faces and revisits past places, but at least this time he has Will along for the ride.
