Every human in this world has an innate power. However, using this power leads to sickness and death. Instead, humans use robotic companions--called automatons--to channel magical power through imbedded crystals. In order to do this, she attends the prestigious Automaton Academy. Zeno wakes up to an influx of magic from a human. He remembers little, and is considerably damaged.
