Life was just a huge nightmare for Ife and things just seemed to go from bad to worse for her. She never caught a break. She didn't think she did anything to deserve such a life but then again, even if she didn't know what it was, God knows all. The quickest escape would have been suicide. But suicide wasn't the bravest. It was cowardly. But she didn't even have the courage to try. When she gets a chance to meet the Angel of Death as she'd been wishing, it doesn't quite go as planned. But that's ok. Because things do not always work out how we want them to. *** I created a challenge for myself, or a proposal where you send me a word or a phrase or a sentence. I wanted to challenge myself to write a short story out of whatever word, phrase or sentence you sent me. In Loving Memory of My Brother
|5X FEATURED · SPOTLIGHT STORY| Learning to cope with death is one of the most challenging obstacles any of us has to face, especially if that death is unexpected. When your whole world has changed, what do you do to overcome grief and keep your loved one's memory alive? *** I never knew how much trauma could affect a person until after my older brother died unexpectedly on August 17th, 2021. I came out of the experience as not the Victoria I was used to, but the Victoria who now had a massive hole in her heart. I come from a long line of fighters. My family and I pulled off different strategies to help us move on from such a devastating death, strategies that I am going to share in this book. Sometimes, the best way to overcome grief is to write about it. After all, writing is an escape to a different world where I still have my Green Guardian. These pieces and pictures I'm going to share with you are not meant to depress anybody, but to illustrate just how wonderful a person Matthew was. His story is sad, but it's a story of hope. Why do bad things happen to good people? A question that his boy is making himself more then ever this days. From the beginning we see a 17 year old boy, struggling to finish high School, filled up with insecurities, mental health issues, a toxic family home, and impossible standards to live up to. He has learn to not only hate his life, but to want finish it off as fast as possible. Close to finally graduating high school his English teacher, Mr Steve, assigns the class a special progect. "To be able to see life through different eyes, and write about it." For this, Mr Steve gets his class to assist a hospital 3 times a week, and assigns each student, with a patient. This is the moment where this boy meets Royal, a cancer sick 17 year old girl, that has lived in a hospital her hole life, but still finds beauty and meaning in it. Through out the report the boy gets more and more involved in Royal's life, spending unfortunately moments together. But through out the journey he asks himself more and more. "Why do bad things happen to good people?"
