Over a century after the collapse of Pre-Panic society, the American Northeast remains largely untamed, inhabited only by villages, small groups, and Night Stalkers.

In the Delaware Valley, however, one group resides above all others: The Kingdom, a massive army of killers and lunatics known as Scavengers, each division led by a different Subject and, at the top of the hierarchy, the King.

Nineteen year old Eli Porter is sent out by his village's leaders on a shopping run, the rest of their armed men busy protecting the village from a rise in Scavenger numbers. Sent out with a horse, a rifle, and his trusted family gun, Eli isn't expecting much. To the nearest abandoned supermarket, in and out? It'd be a twenty hour adventure at the very most, devoid of any danger.

Besides, how hard could it be?
