Niobe loved her job. She loved the island and knew she had never wanted to live anywhere else. Her parents had spent most of their lives in St. Fernando island off the coast of the Carolinas. Her life had been filled with friends and laughter until that fateful afternoon her parents had died in a boating accident. Her life had taken a turn for the worse when she realized not only had she been orphaned but destitute as well.

Enter the Michaels of Boston. They were the town's wealthy socialites who stepped in and rescued her from fate when she'd needed it the most. She owed them a great deal and for that she was grateful. Their daughter Kaitlyn had been a good friend in school and some say best friends.

When she had woken up to the news that Kaitlyn's body had been discovered at the docks she knew she had to be there for the Michaels and show them support this time during their grieving.

Who had killed Kaitlyn? Why was she on the island when she had taken a new case on the mainland? She was just as shocked as everyone else by this terrible news and to make matters more uncomfortable she was very aware that her resemblance to Kaitlyn was not funny anymore.

I could still feel the numbness in my limbs and the piercing pain on my shoulder as I tried to adjust my eyes to the light. There was a constant banging sound in my ear and it was slowly fading away. My vision was blurry and as i adjust my focus, i saw all four of my so called brothers in front of me. They all looked.....worried. I was still not used to their insane acting skills because for a sec i believed it. Maybe I was deceiving myself. What if they actually cared? Before i completely lost it i woke up and tried to pull the plugs and syringe in me....and to say I regretted it was an understatement. Raffaele immediately held me and Damian was screaming for the doctor. I snapped and pushed him away. I didn't know why I was in an hospital. The last thing I remember was holding a gun against my head. "Where is he" The first person I looked for as soon as I woke up was him but he was no where to be seen. I was scared for him, my brothers were capable of doing anything. "He is dead" I couldn't make out who said it because as soon as I heard it my world went black. **************************** Amelia was deceived her whole life. What if it came to the starkest of all choices: kill, or else suffer the loss of a loved one? Readers' comments: 'simply the best', 'one of the best books I've read', 'loved it', 'amazing', 'great reading', 'stumped me to the very end' and others Plot: When a pregnant doctor is brutally murdered in her own kitchen, the husband claims to have some weeks earlier received an anonymous and darkly menacing letter. For the small town of Ravensby, it's just the start of a living nightmare - one in which nobody is spared from the murderous cross hairs, and which will drive Detective Inspector Kubič to the edge of his own sanity... Genre: suspense/thriller Status: completed Length: 70,000 words (approx. 275 standard novel pages) Target readership: Though aimed primarily at adults, the novel features several teenage characters and so may also appeal to a younger audience Extract: "Warn you sir, not a pretty sight in there." Kubič took a deep, preparatory breath, his footsteps slow and leaden as he moved towards the kitchen door. Not for the first time over the years, he found himself wishing he'd chosen an entirely different sort of career. Paper-pushing, something out of doors. Anything at all. He'd always been reasonable enough at woodwork back at school, he recalled. Why hadn't he done that, he thought? Become a cabinet maker or some damn thing. A reluctant hand pushed open the door... "Oh dear Christ." The words escaped his mouth forcefully, involuntarily, like blood gushing from an open wound

"Ahhh!!!" The man's body falls to the floor limp and I fall to the floor out of terror, "Why are you screaming? I saved you from being raped." I look at the man who is holding a gun with a little smile on his face. He holds the gun up to my head and I start crying, "P-Please, p-please don't do this. I-I won't tell anybody." He bends down and I whimper, "I don't think I can let you go. What happened you run and tell in the next three days? You've already seen my face and heard my voice." I shake my head, "I swear I won't tell anybody! I-I don't know anybody!" He looks at me up and down, "I'll give you two choices. I kill you now or you come with me. You can keep me entertained for a while." €€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€ Lyric Dime is a twenty-one year old loner who works in a top tier casino. "Sometimes I wish I could ask him how it feels to break a broken person."**Cassidy Carlone was a perfectly normal teenager, in fact, the term perfect seemed to define her life in general. With a solid friend group, loving family with a stable income, and a brilliant mind: she had everything a teenage girl could ask for. But that all seemed to change when a certain hickory-eyed boy decided to torment and kidnap Cassidy, choosing to abandon her on a roadside a month with a memory of everything but his identity. A new town was supposed to make things better, but the horrors of her past weren't through with her as the series of cynical notes and deaths of her loved ones followed her to St Briston. Can she make it out alive? Possibly. But the real question is whether she'll have anyone to go back to after it all, or will her kidnapper prevail yet again?
