DISCLAIMER #1: I wrote this story when I was a teen and while some mental disorders are the focal point, they may not be accurate representations as I was far from being a psychologist. There are several things Lynn doesn't quite get about the world she lives in, which makes it harder for her to figure herself out. She is not your average teenager. She's young, intelligent, though something about her is off by now. Everyone is quick to misjudge and point fingers, everything and everyone is so corrupted that she's afraid she'll lose herself among a bunch of wandering, empty souls. Therapy can only help so much, depression is hard to die, and in Lynn's case it's caused solely by the fact she doesn't 'fit in'. She can't really find her place in the world. But there's something really special about her; Her dreams are haunted by a wonderful, mystical place. No one understands her, they think she's off her rocker, that she needs to cut her childish daydreams. But Lynn knows deep in her heart that place really exists, and she'll do anything to find it, with the help of some new found friends. This short story is based around the loss of a friend, and coping with that loss with therapy. ~~~ I placed the letter back down onto the small coffee table, wiping away the tears that rested in the corner of my eyes. "How do you feel, Samuel?" the doctor asked, hovering her pen over a piece of paper. "I feel the same way I did the last time you made me read that letter" I responded back, a slight bitterness in my voice. "And how did you feel?" "Lost. Lonely. Hurt. Betrayed." I listed, watching as she wrote it all down, listening as the pen scratched against the paper roughly. "Anything else?" She pressed on, staring down on me like an ant. "I lost my best friend. How do you think I fucking feel?" The tone of my voice made her flinch slightly, but she quickly regained her professionalism. "Samuel, I need you to calm down. Shouting at me isn't going to do you any good". She pushed her glasses further up her face as she scribbled more onto the page. "Shouting?" I open my eyes and I'm blinded by a bright light. I squint and it takes a couple of minutes for my eyes to adjust to the light. I try to speak but there is something down my throat. I hear a voice say "Don't try to speak Collin you have a tube down your throat. We will notify your family that your awake". I look for the source of the voice but faces with a women dressed in a white lab coat and has this weird thing around her neck. She injects me with something and everything went black again I wake up again and the thing down my throat was gone. I try to speak but my voice was dry. "Water" I say and someone gives me a glass on water. I drink and I feel like I haven't drank water for years. "Collin are you okay" a voice say. It sound familiar but I don't member from where. Who is Collin. That's the second time I heard that. "Um who are you and who is Collin" ---------------------------------- They say you never forget your first anything. She was just that girl who always did her work at school, never caused trouble, was always quiet in the classroom and never felt like she belong with her group of friends. Till she kind of fell in love with her best friend, but she still did not quite believe that she fit in with her. She wanted everything to impress her and make her believe that she always meant everything she told her. She always wonder was that enough or was it a waste of time. She did not feel like hearing that answer; all she knew is she wanted to make her believe that somebody means everything they tell her even if it had to be the girl who nobody never noticed.
