Good Dog
"Hi, I'm looking for a dog." Mark told the lady at the counter of the animal shelter. "I'll show you our selection." The woman smiled kindly as she guided Mark to the back. Mark's eyes scanned the many good dogs, listening to their barks while feeling his heart break at the sight. He walked past many breeds such as German Shepherds, mutts, and evens few poodles before he eventually reached the end with no dog in mind that he wanted. Until a new one came in. "I found her abandoned in a home that the owners had moved out of awhile ago, and she put up a hell of a fight to stay and wait for the owners to return. She's really sick too, as well as dehydrated and malnourished." A man spoke in a rush as he barged in holding a lump of fur in his hands. Mark could see the dirty white-blonde fur on the dog slowly rise up and down with each breath it took, her large, sad chocolate brown eyes looking into Mark's own eyes with a mournful look that made Mark want to hug the puppy and never let go. She let out a whimper before she lowered her head and closed her eyes, making tears well up in Mark's eyes. "That's the dog I want." Mark decided aloud. "A-are you sure? We have plenty of other dogs-" "She's perfect." Mark interrupted. The man exchanged glances with the woman before gently handing the puppy over. "What's her name?" Mark asked softly as he watched the puppy lick his fingers with a small smile. "Sephora according to the rope the owners tied to her before leaving." The man stated as he pulled out a tattered piece of rope with her name burnt onto it. "Sephora...like the makeup. How about Chica?" Mark whispered to the puppy. Chica let out a soft yip as she curled into a tighter ball in Mark's hand. "Chica it is." Mark chuckled, delicately running a finger down her soft back. "You're a good dog." Mark told her as he walked towards the exit. "You'll always be my good dog." Mark promised her.Complete

You deserve better. You can get better" "I loved him" "So, he didn't deserve your love" "It still hurts Syd. Why wasn't I enough" ___________________ Winter Heart was just an ordinary girl. She had a perfect life. A boyfriend, a best friend, a good reputation, everything. She and her boyfriend were known as a perfect couple. One who never had fights until one day she catches him red handed...cheating. As a getaway, her older sister Sydney planned a trip to Australia. How was she to know she would meet a certain Australian who catches her heart and not to mention has a brother who is perfect for her sister. That's not even it. Who was to say she wouldn't meet an enemy there? How did they know things would turn out for the worst because well, things aren't what they seem here in Australia. This is a short story that takes place in the middle of "Orphan Wolf". It can be read independently but will have spoilers if you intend to read "Orphan Wolf"... I of course would suggest you read it and pause at the point I marked to read "Markie" but the choice is yours. Story excerpt "Come on Ryan leave me alone!" A boy yells. "You started it Francis... come on pup don't start that with me... I don't have time for this! GO HOME!" I felt the command. I see the little 8 year old boy from last night run away crying, one of Ruby's cousins. When I turn the corner I see a boy about 20 and am hit with an overpowering smell something like fresh cut wood and autumn leaves. It is amazing. I see the guy turn towards me and duck behind the house I am standing by before he sees me. Nope! Not him! Not happening! I hear footsteps coming towards me and run. Into the woods I find a pine tree. Perfect! Pine trees are great hiding places. The branches hide you visually and the smell masks your scent. I climb up as quickly as I can and watch the guy approaching. He circles my tree looking around but eventually gives up and goes back towards the houses. "Mate!" My wolf happily purs. "Not him!" I respond. "Denial." She says. "Refusal." I counter and she growls at me. "You will NOT reject him!" She orders. "He is a bully!" "He is mate!" "He commanded that kid when he could have just talked to him! He is a bully with no patience!" "He is an Alpha!" She purrs with pride at his rank. I don't care! "I don't want him!" "The one you want isn't mate. He isn't yours. He isn't interested... I want mate!" "No." I block her out and climb down the tree.Complete
