Since Nina was little, she was forced to grow up. Mature. With her Dad in Texas to work in the oil field to bring in more money and her Mom working at at the local dollar store, Nina had to take care of her little brother.  

She always felt as if she stuck. Stuck in the Cut. Stuck on the island. Stuck being the adult in the family.  And the worst of it all is that she knows she's not going to be able to leave her situation once she gets out of high school. 

Her crew, the Pogues, helped her out whenever they could. They were her second family. Now that her brother was older, knew right from wrong, and allowed to spend his free time with his own friends and hurricane Agatha storming in, a new adventure shows up for the crew.  A sunken boat, a dead body, and her friend's family compass turns into a whirlwind of events. She and her friends now have a chance to change their lives.
