Love is a beautiful thing. There are many types of love, but this particular couple didn't share any kinds of love towards each other. They claimed that they hated one another. Sonic and Amy had an arrange marriage which both of them completely disagreed with that idea.
In order to make someone happy, they agree to go through with it, even though they both despite each other. Sometimes you need to make some sacrifices to make someone happy. Even though you ended up miserable.
