Izuku's eyes opened. Wait. What? The smell of antiseptic and lilies filled his nose. The buzzing of the florescent lights screeched in his ears. It's been a while since he was in a doctor's office, let alone a hospital, but Izuku knew he shouldn't be awake, because he had calculated that drop. So why? Why in the world was his heart still beating?

Life's been cruel to Izuku Midoriya. After having to bury his wife and daughter, his only other child gets put into a quirk-induced coma that they can't wake her up from. He shuts down, ignoring the outside world, refusing to let anyone in. He's terrified of the consequences it could bring if other people entered his life. The only person he can't push away is Bakugo. No matter how hard he tries, Bakugo keeps coming back, just trying to make sure Midoriya stays alive.
