The human race has departed earth over a century ago and now evolution takes place once more. Most youngers develop gifts that were originally only assumed to be fantasy, while the rest of the public live in the high-tech world they created for space travel.
As they voyage onward and reconstruct society in the new world, an evil organization overtakes the current order. Among their policies, they enact a series of games. Those young adults who survive are entered into the new regime.
But sixteen year old Abigail Runner wants nothing to do with it. Unfortunately for her, her refusal to participate lands in her into a story she never imagined would unfold.

The boy, desperate to find someone to help him save his sister, leaves the city and finds one of the youngest cooperative packs in North America, called the Raiders, comprised of unwanted individuals with the strange powers left from the destruction of years past. Their leader, a destructive insomniac, promises to help him in return for the skills and usefulness this young boy seems to possess, but something disrupting sends waves of unease through the Raiders, something about a forgotten past and talk of a mutiny.
