In a world where there's an "outbreak" of humans shifting into mutants. Once they're discovered, they're kicked out of society. You would think that they would be killed on the spot, but no they're left for the dead. Exiled so that they must survive on their own; well until the Crown's Guild tracks them down and kills them all.
So when Malia's best friend, Eva, shifts in the middle of her dorm room and Montgomery Boarding School, chaos sort of takes over her life. That's not even the worst. With the fear that mutants are a threat to human society, even her small village and boarding school are on edge.
But what Malia doesn't realize is that her life will change forever after she eavesdrops on a particular pair of individuals.
And what happens when Malia, the girl who was always taught to defend herself against these half-breeds, shifts. Nightmares. That's what happens. That's what she is.
Malia is set on destroying the monarchy, until she meets someone that could help her and destroy her too. Put together a man with a bounty on his head, a woman with too much to lose, throw in a healthy dose of trauma, teenagers, toddlers, sharing a bed with a stranger and you're bound to have a royal mess. Let's not forget the most important part, they can't fall for each other because that just takes the stakes up, you don't just wake up and get attracted to an assassin so you can be used as mafia bait, basically destined not to work. That's what this is, a mess that shouldn't work. But it does. And everything goes to shit because of it. A story about love, assassination, family and healing from trauma.Complete
