Peeta Mellark has always been the mysterious boy in the classroom. He always wore a hoodie over his head to try and hide the bruises on his face. No one ever talked to him or even tried to get to know him after the popular kids who were his "best friends" abandoned him for not being good enough. So Peeta just went on, all alone.

Brightly Delaney has never had any type of actual experience in the real world seeing as shes always been sheltered from it by her over dramatic mother and father. But when an accident happens, Brightly soon finds herself an orphan and living with her father's little sister, Aunt Millie's family that doesn't like her for unknown reasons. Brightly goes to school with her cousin Addie and finds herself lost on how High School works. She bumps into the mysterious boy and finds herself attached to him and how safe he feels.
