A little girl, Anoka, age 7, becomes entranced by a beautiful circus that visits her desolate town. Surrounded by a hateful and abusive family, she seeks asylum with some of the performers. After begging to join the circus, she was sternly told no. However, one performer told her this, "We will be back for you. No matter where you are, no matter the trials you face.
