A little girl, Anoka, age 7, becomes entranced by a beautiful circus that visits her desolate town. Surrounded by a hateful and abusive family, she seeks asylum with some of the performers. After begging to join the circus, she was sternly told no. However, one performer told her this, "We will be back for you. No matter where you are, no matter the trials you face. When you are 14, you can expect to see me." This is the story of how Anoka waits yearly and faces trials just to see the circus if only for a second more.
