Synopsis:

(Y/N) was a citizen in the Mist Village. Her parents were once ninjas, yet they both wanted her to live a normal life instead of learning techniques that could even help her in the future. 

They both eventually died in a mission, from protecting their comrades on an ambush but she preferred to stay at their humble home despite constant attacks from perverted men, rather than get adopted by a rich couple and live in luxury.

Until she met Itachi. Was it for the better? Or he just made everything worse?

The 4th Great Shinobi War has ended, and Gaara is starting to wonder how the nations will maintain their fragile peace without a common enemy. He's devised a plan to go on a diplomatic tour of the shinobi world, and try to establish strong bonds with each village, and Mist Village is his first stop. Joining Gaara and his two ever loyal siblings, Temari and Kankuro, will be the Leaf Shinobi, Naruto, Shikamaru, Ino, Tenten, Hinata, Neji, and surprisingly, Sasuke Uchiha. Sasuke isn't really going for the mission though, he's been persuaded to join them by Gaara's new, out of this world teacher, Shine Likstar, and her partner Wally West, and their current hero trainees, Momo, Shoto, Dabi, and now joining them, Bakugo and Camie. Along the way the group runs into Team Taka, and makes some detours, all the while trying not to drive each other insane with their crazy hijinks, culture clashes, and different ways of looking at the world. Not to mention past trauma. But things may heat up when they actually reach Mist Village and find more than they bargained for. [This story is a sort of spin off of the main story line, and picks up where my shorter retelling of the War Arc and Sasuke Retrieval Arc left off. Read that book first if you want to know how these characters know each other, it's on my profile. Otherwise if you just want to jump right in and figure it out, I respect that approach too. The story starts right after the battle at The Valley of The End where Naruto battled Sasuke right before he joined Orochimaru in order to gain more power. Sasuke pierced Naruto's right shoulder with his Chidori technique. My story deviates from the canon series because Naruto's wound was not immediately healed by the Nine-Tails. Also, Naruto didn't go into his initial junchūriki form, as he refused to use the Nine-Tails chakra. The story starts with Naruto recovering from that fight in the hospital. Afterward, he is sent on a 2-year mission with his sensei Kakashi Hatake. As they travel together, their bonds grow stronger until they eventually learn about each other's true feelings. (Yaoi and violence!) ! - I do not recommend reading this story if you are not familiar with the series. ! - In this story, Naruto starts off as a 17-year-old, not 14 as in the series. !- The story continues until the canon's Pain episodes, so if you haven't seen that yet, there will be spoilers here. !- Yaoi lemon in later chapters. The KakaNaru relationship evolves from teacher/student to friends (bromance) to lovers while they travel together. I started writing this story because I'm a big fan of the Naruto series. However, there have always been two things bothering me. For one, the filler episodes and constant flashbacks of course, and secondly, the lack of relations. For example, Kakashi not caring all too much about Naruto's upbringing even though he is Minato's son. Or the fact that nobody (not even his godfather Jiraiya) adopted Naruto. And don't even get me started on the fact that nobody ever told Naruto anything about his parents, nor did he ever ask... Anyway, the list is long. It's my first time writing fanfiction. Obviously, I do not own Naruto or any other characters from the series/manga. My native language is Dutch, not English, so please try and forgive any spelling mistakes you might find. The child-soldiers aspect of it is a breeding ground for every single character to have deep-seated psychological issues. IT IS MY OPINION THAT NO SINGLE PERSON IN THE NARUTOVERSE CAN POSSIBLY HAVE A TRULY HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP UNLESS THEY LEARN HOW TO NAVIGATE THEIR OWN ISSUES. Unfortunately, I believe NONE of the characters stood a chance to be mentally healthy, considering trauma is around every corner for them. If you want a fic that depicts this world in rose colored glasses, this may not be the fic for you. Sure, there will be some of your stereotypical fanfic tropes, but I aim to write them as best I can. ONGOING. Please, please, please review and comment. It helps motivate me to keep going.
