Hermes Granger vowed to himself he would be the best in everything once he stepped foot in Hogwarts. He promised to himself that he would study diligently, finish his homework on time, and pass his exams with flying colors. However, after befriending Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, idiots who have a knack of getting themselves into trouble, Hermes knew studying in Hogwarts would be undoubtedly hard. It didn't help that Iris Malfoy - the snarky, Pureblood bigot - seemed to go out of her way just to torment the daylights off him. He just wanted to study, for Merlin's sake.

And that, Hermes Granger - that frumpy, swotty, know-it-all Gryffindor prat - bested her in everything and she promised, right there and then, that she'd make his life a living hell.
