On the same day eighteen year old Waverly Willows is crushed by a rejection from her dream culinary college, she also receives an acceptance letter and scholarship from a school she never applied to, Dagwood Academy. With no other choices Waverly packs her bags for New Mexico, but when she arrives for orientation she quickly learns that Dagwood Academy is not at all what she expected.
The Academy only teaches one subject; magic. Or, more scientifically defined as the study of a force named ENF that certain people can learn to channel, amplify and release as energy in certain ways through their bodies. Waverly and her friends have to navigate the new world of college while also trying to get their powers under control so they don't harm other students, or themselves.
As the end of the year draws near Waverly must worry about more than just exams as she discovers the reason the students of Dagwood Academy were chosen for studying ENF may not be as innocent as she thought.
