We've been living completely oblivious to the secrets our world has. The supernatural world; however, is about to be revealed. Angels, Fallen Angels, and Demons live amongst us, hiding in plain sight. They look, talk, and act just like us, but have abilities far beyond that of our own. This is why they must keep in secret to avoid the Chaos that would ensue if people knew they existed. Unfortunately, an unexpected encounter turns tragic when a supernatural battle takes place and puts the lives of innocent people at risk. This throws Ari Rose and Eriya Mckennon into the supernatural world as angels among us. They meet Rubi Oruto, leader of the mismatched batch of Angels refereed to as the House of Spades, and at the worst possible time, too. The Centennial Rating Games are soon upon them and neither Ari nor Eriya are ready for the gladiator-style competition with another house of Angels. They'll have to get used to their new lives in a hurry as time is quickly running out. This event is crucial to the House, as a win could erase some of the scrutiny and negative light they've been cast in for the past few years. A loss would surely cement them as being nothing other than a bunch nobodies who shouldnt be given the privilege of being an Angel. Hopefully Ari and Eriya can handle the pressure, because one thing is for sure: it won't be easy.

"This is an Angel girl named Maisie Lark. She hasn't ever stepped foot into the 'real world'. Attempting to break the lock is useless and I have the key. I've extended the olive branch. Maisie's your motive. Come find me when you're ready." Cecilia Star has been alive long enough to know what it's like to be a demon in the human realm, but she's also been alive long enough to cope with her everyday life. But when she wakes up handcuffed to a strange Angel she's never met before, she's thrown for a loop. Cecilia assumes it's all just one big, extremely cruel prank by the twins in order to rile her up and test her limits. After all, Maisie is everything that Cecilia would rather leave behind her, determined, opinionated, and so very clearly wrong. But it doesn't take Cecilia and Maisie long to realize that the handcuff prank is a little more than just a lighthearted joke. The thing about Demon metal is that it is a fickle thing. It can only be unlocked by the person who has the key and no matter what method is used, it cannot be broken. Cecilia would rather just forget the whole thing, refuse to give Ezekiel the satisfaction he so wants, and remain handcuffed to Maisie for the rest of her life. It doesn't take long to realize that it's just not possible. Maisie is everything that she shouldn't be in the human realm. Bigoted, rude, and annoyingly difficult. She can't even get close to Cecilia without making some sort of remark on how she can't stand Demons. As the time ticks down and options become less and less, maybe being handcuffed to each other will teach Cecilia and Maisie a thing or two about themselves. Maybe running from the past isn't the right choice and perhaps, maybe even a Demon and Angel could fall in love too. (Entered in the Open Novella Contest 2022 under prompt 79. Jasper O'Celevano is the perfect picture of an ordinary girl with really long, wavy hair of a dark brunette shade, dark brown eyes, a considerably normal circle of friends, and average grades. However, with one quick swoop, the facade of being a normal girl that she worked so hard to build crumbles. Her reputation: gone. And to top it off, she has to work alongside the girl that ruined it all--Efah Collins--to save what's left of the world and humanity. ~~~ Efah Collins didn't choose to be a dark angel. It was brought upon her by her parents who were angels that fell from heaven. As a punishment for their sins, their child was born a dark angel and can never go to heaven. Efah moves from country to country trying to stay away from any type of angel out there. Hell, even from every creature known to man. So what happens when her and Jasper team up to stop a demon named Lucifinia from destroying heaven, hell, and the earth? Things just got a whole lot more interesting.
