Don't Look Back Alysha-Mae Hadley had always been... different. "Special," her dad used to say, ruffling her hair like she was a child genius or a ticking time bomb-he never quite decided which. Her siblings teased her gently, her teachers watched her like she might float away mid-lesson, and every person she ever dated ended things with the same line: "You're just... a bit much, Alysha." But it wasn't her fault that the world in her dreams felt more real than the one she woke up to. That she remembered things that hadn't happened-or hadn't happened yet. That she could never quite explain the feeling that someone, or something, was watching her. For as long as she could remember, the nightmares had been the same: a corridor of mirrors, each reflection warped and whispering. A girl who looked like her but wasn't. And a shadow at the end, always just out of reach, always calling her name. Then, on the morning of her 20th birthday, Alysha-Mae met him. He was leaning against the wall outside the coffee shop, sketchbook in hand, drawing what looked suspiciously like the corridor from her dreams. "You see it too?" he asked without looking up. Her heart stopped. That was the moment she knew: her "crazy" wasn't just hers anymore.

#1 Mystery | #1 Thriller | #1 Young Adult Have you ever known someone more than you know yourself? Known them so inside out that you could finish their sentences and know what they're thinking, just with a glance? That was Casey and I. We were the ultimate best friends. We knew more than we should about each other. I was hopelessly and undeniably in love with him. I still remember the day perfectly. I wish I could say there was something to hint that it was coming. There was nothing. I thought I knew everything about him. Apparently not. He killed himself and a part of me died along with him. He was dead, and so was I. Or, so I thought. ** Cover by Reachingformorex ** © 2017 by LaurenJ22. All rights reserved.
