A poor boy named Callum, living in a small and desperate village in an overbearing kingdom by the name of Exirecia, sets out to rob the palace's wealth after his mother's tragic death. Quickly his attempt fails, though, and he is sentenced to many years of torture and misery in the palace's prison, forced to leave behind his younger brothers and sisters.
Meanwhile, the prince of Exirecia, Marius, is struggling to become the prince he is expected to be, as he refuses to be involved in any marriage or royal duties. Desperate to get him to listen, the king gives him a task- to take care of the newest prisoner who had attempted to rob the very palace- Callum himself.
But what happens when Marius grows attached to Callum, and Callum fights for his way to leave the palace and care for his family? If Marius could help him escape, what would happen then? And what will they do when everything begins to depend on a little bet that they made..?
