After his loss in the Kalos League, Ash had wanted a break. 
A break from his traveling and battles to figure out what to do. He's been traveling for the past seventeen years and feels like hes close to something he want's but isn't sure what. Confused if he really wants to become champion.
With a vacation to Alola with his mother, he then spent his summer with new friends and learning so much about pokemon from their professor Kukui.
And when opprotunity comes when the Galar Region, is allowing some visitors into their borders to possibly open their country, Ash bids farewell to his friends and mentor on Alola as he sets forth to Galar.
However, he is unable to take his pokemon due to customs and the country is not ready for foreign pokemon, and leaves Pikachu with Lillie till then, accident occurs upon his flight.
All he remembers, is on a beach, with lush grass fields, and someone calling for help before he blacks out.
As the world knew it, Ash Ketchum went missing. 
The search still continuing for two years, right when the Galar Region opened their borders, and was holding the world's biggest tournament of regions.

Unfortunately, the International Police can't do anything without proof, but then Coovers comes up with a plan to use Timothy's accomplishments as a trainer and his role in stopping Team Rocket to gain Chairman Rose's attention, earn his trust and ultimately lead Timothy to Eternatus, thus getting the proof they need to stop the chairman's dangerous plan. So, with their new companion, Gwen, Timothy, Coovers, and Electchu travel through the Galar region as Timothy competes in the Gym Challenge to impress Chairman Rose. But as the mission goes on, love is in the air. Coovers has developed a crush on Professor Magnolia's granddaughter, Sonia, who may have feelings for him as well. At the same time, Timothy finds himself stuck in a love triangle. One of Chairman Rose's most trusted minions, Ezria Markenel, has developed feelings for him after hearing of his deeds in defeating Team Rocket. At the same time, Gwen begins to adore Timothy, too. Will relationships bloom? Will hearts be broken? And will Chairman Rose be stopped before it's too late?

Have you ever wondered what Ash's journey would be if he were in Galar? Well, I'm creating my own rewrite to imagine what that would be like. The plot is about a ten-year-old boy named Ash Ketchum and his first partner named Pikachu, who travels to a new region called Galar. His goal is to challenge Leon, the unbeatable champion. Galar is home to its strong and competitive trainers, so the road will be a challenge for him. Ash is also traveling with two companions: a young adult woman named Sonia, who is also the granddaughter of Professor Magnolia; and a boy named Hop, who's Leon's Younger Brother and share the same goal from Ash of dethroning Leon. Together, the trio travels to the first section of Galar, meeting new trainers and Pokémon and learning about Galar history and secrets.
