'Maybe I'm not cut out for it.' He thinks, watching as the ball shoots past him and lands on the floor with a resounding thud. Maybe if this happened to him the year before- no, even the month before- then he might have quit. He could picture himself shrugging off his dad's worried (and somewhat disbelieving) stare to say, "I tried my best- it just wasn't for me." He thinks he would smile as the one thing he'd held onto for years was abandoned just like that. But that's just it. Maybe it would've happened in the past- but Shun Hinata is a different person now. He's part of a team this time (not trying to do everything for a team instead). His brother was improving rapidly right in front of him! And god didn't that just make him want to do something more. Something better. The next serve is aimed directly behind him, Shun grins maniacally. 'To hell with the quitter talk! He loved volleyball and he was going to stay on court for longer than a set!" His arms move faster than his brain can process, but he saves the ball anyway. It's messy and definitely not as good as his usual passes, but he got it up. He's given his team a fighting chance. And a chance is all they need. [Previously named: "I Promise" | Haikyuu!! Hinata's Sister] Cross-posted on AO3
