Grief can be transferred. it can be given to someone else the same way love can. When I cry for a few minutes and tell you my deepest ailments, it hurts you too. If you love me the way you claim and if you wholeheartedly listen and accept my story, you feel that pain almost as sharply as I do. For a few moments I feel better and more comfortable in my grief while you are briefly burdened with it. I guess I never wanted to burden anyone with it.
