Liam and Chloe were born with two different abilities which is extremely rare as most people are born with only one ability. With the looming war with the other realms in sight, the government has formed a new organisation to recruit reliths who are people with two abilities to train them and to fight in the war. People have been trying to escape the hands of the organisation as they have learnt about what they do to the reliths. The reliths go through various experiments in order to enhance their abilities. It usually ends with the reliths dying. Even if they made it through the experiments, they had to suffer with the beatings they received to make them tougher . When the government came to Liam's and Chloe's house to check for their abilities,they knew they had to escape. Together, Liam and Chloe made their escape and left their old life behind.

I don't name them, but one of the character will be struggling a lot. It may not be suitable for everybody. Other adult matters are briefly included, but nothing explicit or intense.
