"It's you," I breathed out as I carefully climbed up onto the ledge. He turned around with wide eyes.
"Ah, Gwen...Listen, you're not supposed to be here-"
"What are you saying!?" I cried out. The wind picked up and whipped the autumn leaves surrounding us high up into the night sky. Tears gathered in my eyes. I squeezed them shut.
"Y-You promised! So why-" My words got caught in my throat. Now that I was finally in front of him, I forgot what I was even going to say. Letting my arms fall to my sides, I trained my eyes on my feet, not able to process what was right in front of me. His expression softened and he slowly rose to his feet and approached me carefully. His heart was beating rapidly and tears started to fall. Stopping in front of me, he took my limp hands into his and pressed his forehead against mine, weeping softly. He managed to choke out a reply.
"I didn't mean for this to happen. I-I didn't know things would turn out like this."
