sleep deprived and nestled into each other's embrace, I feel her petite nose gently brush against mine as we face the beginning of the fall sunrise in Austin, watching the dark blue skies of the night turn into soft pinks and oranges. the light reflecting changes her eye color, those beautiful new moons turning a different shade with the natural light, providing a sunrise of their own that stare me down breathless.

"isn't this nice?" she asks softly.

play it cool, she'll think you're too much if you say something dumb. "mhm, I suppose."

her face slightly scrunches in response, "what do you mean? don't you ever crave this?"

all the time. hell, this is everything I've ever wanted. "-or, haven't you ever done this before?" I can't help but laugh under my breath at that last one.

"none of the above; always gotta stop something good in its tracks before it gets toxic."

"well baby, if *this* is what you consider becoming toxic," she pauses to stare me down while proceeding to comb her hand into the back of my hair softly, "don't put the brakes on any time soon."
