The lands have grown quiet. Lords no longer feud and no demons or spirits have been recorded in some time. The clans having long slaughtered one another in pursuit of the spoils promised when slaying legendary demons. After abandoning his clan so long ago Gurren seeks redemption. Something he finds in an offer from a lone monk who gifts him immortality and an eye that can see the realm of gods. He asks only for Gurren to watch over these lands as its protector in exchange. Though in the passing years there has been little to protect it from other than roaming bandits and thieves. That is until someone is killed in a nearby village, cleaved in half by a blade that can cut through not only the body but the soul too.
