My life as I know it has always been about protecting myself and the people around me, even though I've been locked away most of teenage years. My kind has been hunted down for many, many years. The Hunters we call them, they were the enemies. The only thing we had to fear and the only thing we detested was them. They killed many of our people, they wanted our powers, they wanted to take advantage of us, they thought of us as monsters and we just returned the favour. So even though I could live a somewhat normal life... ok scratch that there is nothing normal about my life, I still had to remember who I was and that the littlest mistake could lead to my downfall.
But hey, who said being a Mermaid was easy?

Mermaids are real, and unlike humans they have powers. Every mermaid is matched with an element when they are born, its not there choice but the worlds in a way, you see the mermaids tail color tells them their element and powers some are more powerful with it and other's not so much to useless. Green tails mean their element is Nature and earth, orange and yellow is light, purple is shadows, pink is wind and then there is blue for water and red for fire. But, when a princess is born with a tail holding 5 out of 6 of the elemental colors and starts getting hunted at the age of one. There was only one thing the king could do to keep his precious babygirl safe and that's what he had done. Amelia Light was adopted at the age of one. Knowing the truth she feel's that these people are her real family even if they aren't by blood. Living a normal life with a loving family and an annoying older brother, Amelia never expected her life to change in the way it did. She had grown up to love the water, she could always hold her breath for a long time and the people around her would always be filled with shock and bewilderment but, to her it was normal. At the age of 5 Amilea could hold her breath for a minute but as she gotten older it changed when she was 10 she could hold it for 5 minutes easy! Now that she is turning 16 soon she can hold it for almost and I mean almost 10 minutes. She had loved everything about it but the summer after she turned 15 some.. Difficulties happen and Amelia discovers she has a tail! A hard secret to keep, and lots of difficulties on the road ahead, will Amelia be able to get all the answer's she is looking for? And what will she do now? Can she really live the best of both worlds? Or will she have to choose? How will she even find were to get her answer's too? Alone. Naked. Cold. Covered in blood that is just as likely to be mine as someone else's. I don't know who I am, where I am, or what I'm running from. All I get are flashes, snippets of dark shadows, sneering faces. Pain always follows these nightmares, these memories. I was found, taken in, but I have no way of knowing if I only escaped the frying pan just to jump into the fire. I don't understand these people, these wolves. They don't understand me, either. Our words mean nothing to each other, they're no more than sounds. We use gestures, facial expressions, body language like the beasts we seem to be.
