Look, it's not like I somehow managed to rig the game of spin the bottle so I'd have seven minutes in heaven with Elijah Hunter, the hottest, most sought-after boy in school. One minute I was sitting on the floor of a party I didn't want to be at, surrounded by people who were too popular to even contemplate talking to me and the next I was pushed up against the wall of the guest bedroom, having the time of my life.

This was not the place Mai was supposed to be. If she had it her way, she would have been on the computer, talking to her friends like she did every Friday night. Actually, every night, if she was being honest. But instead, her mom had made her go to a party where she wasn't welcome and into a situation she wasn't ready for.

In the aftermath, will she be able to answer the eternal question: "what now?"
