Wei Wuxian recently turned 18 and is excited to go on his first trip to cloud recesses. After being adopted he has never really left the comfort of his home and has only ever traveled around Yunmeng. He was excited yet nervous to finally visit other places. His sister gave him the great idea to send a letter to someone to be able to have at least one friend by his side. They randomly picked a name out of all the students and he chose none other than Lan Wangji.

This work is inspired by request from Olivia Hawkins: "A time travel fic after Guanyin Temple where WWX uses MXY's golden core to travel all the way back before he went to the Cloud Recesses and he takes this pill that prevents him from falling in love. Every time LWJ is near WWX, he has visions of the events that occurred later in the novel such as the Cloud Recesses burning, WWX giving his golden core to JC, WWX being thrown into burial mounds and WWX becoming the YP. He approaches WWX this time and hopes that he can protect him but is rejected constantly. So he summons most of the cultivation world to tell them about the visions he had seen." (Another Random Idea for 2025) Wei Wuxian met Lan Wangji in ninth grade and wanted to be like him. In fact Wei Wuxian was the opposite of the stoic, disciplined and serious Lan Wangji. School life ended. Wei Wuxian found out that he was adopted, moved out of his home, married his classmate, had a child and lost his wife in childbirth. He was not happy in life but he had finally achieved his goal of being disciplined and serious in life. He had to be for the sake of his son A'Yuan. When he gets a job offer that pays him almost twice his current salary, he accepts it willingly, not realizing that the psychiatric patient who had lost his parents in an accident he is to be the companion of is none other than Lan Wangji. Lan Wangji has not spoken a single word in three years, not since the death of his parents. When he sees his childhood crush in front of him he wants to speak but cannot make himself do so. So he pulls Wei Wuxian into his arms and kisses him. Lan Haikuan never blamed his brother for being the reason he lost his parents but Wangji did. If their parents hadn't gone to celebrate his graduation they wouldn't have died in the car accident. Lan Wangji never recovered from the trauma of it.
