It's senior year and seventeen-year-old Tariq Broward is looking forward to many things. Prom, graduation, college basketball, and now proving his innocence in a capital murder charge.
Who did he kill? His best friend Kyle Warner, who died after hitting his head on the bathroom sink at school. The only two people there-Tariq and Kyle.
And what's this about a hate crime? True, Tariq is black, and Kyle is white, but they were brothers. At least that is what Tariq thought.
Soon Tariq will find out what it really means to be a young black man in a predominantly white community and trapped inside a legal system that targets people based on the color of their skin.
