"how do you find happiness in this world?" a boy snuggled closer to his mother next to her arm, like the universe carved this spot perfectly for him to stay but he was smart enough to know that wasn't true.
"well, it exists in a lot more places that you might think - the small things in life, the days where you and i go on picnics and draw on the walls. those days paint smiles on our faces right? when you grow up and get a chance to explore this world, you will find all sorts of people. some might not like you and you might not like some but i will guarantee haechan, 100% that there will be someone that will show you all the happiness in the world, much better than i, someone you love -"
his mum ranted on about the human experience and he listened. he always liked when his mum did this. he didn't understand anything but it made him feel safe in this bubble of protection it formed.
minutes passed.
"haechan, wanna take a photo??"
"okay okay!!" his mum took out a beautiful polaroid camera they had bought just a few weeks ago.
"say cheese -"
his memories faded as he looked back up. the ink from the sky swallowing him yet again and restricted his vision to just in front of him. stretching his hands, he smiled to the crescent and spoke to it like a wolf to the full moon. "i didn't understand anything you said in the past, but now i do mum. thank you" he whispered as he tightened his grip on the cold metal in his hands.
