Jasper met his mate when he was still under Marias control.
They shared the title as second in comand in her army. Maria hated the fakt that when Jasper came, he was mated to Silver.
Silver was a skilled vampire with the power to manipulate metall. The two vampires were madly in love with eachother and Maria didn't have anything to hold them both in her army, so one night she kidnapped Silver.
Jasper looked for his mate for years, but didn't find her. He became depressed as his other half was gone and assumed her dead. Later he met Alice and her Mate Blake in a Café and they joined the Cullens.
While the Cullens were in Forks, Silver finally managed to escape Maria.
Two souls were about to be reunited.
