Diego's fascination with the female form spawned from a long line of women he called his muses. Possibly his most reputable muse was his beloved- Elara, whom he wooed with his artworks and lots of flowers, when he spotted her across the river in which he was painting. At the young age of 20, Diego was already producing well-respected paintings and had a gallery of his own artworks, although he was still a student at the time. While Elara was engaged and had a relationship to another, Diego carried on an affair with Elara. The relationship was a nasty one, but the couple inspired each other artistically.
