They have wanted this for so long and this was the reason as to why the band broke up in the first place. Because they weren't truly happy and it was getting too toxic for them to handle. It took a major toll on their relationship (Louis and Harry being married for 7 years - Liam and Zayn were married for 4). They knew that if they were to ever get back together, then them coming out has to happen. Now what will happen when they actually get what they asked for.
