The journey out of our darkness. All of my memories of my grandparents are of them being sick. I never got to truly spend quality time with them and then they died when I was only seven. I cannot remember most things from my early childhood because my mind was mainly flooded with darkness and couldn't concentrate on the happier things in life. I was getting bullied and I developed a learning disability. I struggled making friends and didn't really have any until middle school. Then I met my best friend and everything changed... My name is Caitlyn Hazzard, but my friends call me Hazz. My early life has been hard. I have a learning disability and have epilepsy. I was also bullied and it was tough for me. I had a really hard time making friends and showing my emotions. I cannot remember a real time, I haven't been really happy by myself. I always think negatively and I didn't really love myself. I always cared what people thought of me. The only time I was happy was with family. I knew my family loved me for me. When I met my best friend that always stuck by me, is when everything changed. It was for the best. . . My name is Katelyn Johnston, but you can call me Katie.

Her weight. Her life. She may have a slightly unhealthy relationship with food, but she's fine. At least, that's what she tells herself. Then he comes along - the one she swore she would never let in again. His mind is an enigma. But maybe he's not as bad as she thought. Or maybe he's even worse, she can't decide. As their senior year progresses, secrets become harder to keep in the dark. She's losing control. And so is he. But sometimes losing control is a good thing.
