Life problems for Xu Xingzhou seem rather mundane. It includes the pain of long international flights between home and university, the deadlines for his assignments, how most English people never manage to find even a third-cousin to the pronunciation of his name, how he's horrible at dating, and the foreseeible future career as a mediocre programmer...
The mundaneness evaporates, however, after he comes across a mysterious young man on a drunk night out in a river. With him unravels a tumultuous past that links mythology with history, crime with atonement, as well as hate and love.
