What We Can Afford

An eighteen-year-old girl named Nadine Brawijaya, also known as Dee finally got herself out of that horrendous political adoption center when a perfect couple who had just moved from San Francisco to Jakarta officially signed her into their homes at thirteen. School for her was as dull as it can be, but when she had finally graduated, burned all her Math and Physics books into a garbage can, and sent numerous middle fingers their way, she decided to step up her game and turn her dull life upside-down during summer. Considering her American family was all about parties, she wouldn't have a problem. Along with her fun half-brother, Bryan, they felt like nothing could stand in their way.
And then, along came a pretentious loser rich dude named Anthony Hwan, also known as Tony from the South who appeared in one of their parties on a regular Friday night. Along with his two other hazardous South friends, Christopher and Joshua, of course they had to ruin everything.
Little did they know that they would regularly meet at their favourite bookstore a couple of minutes away from their neighborhood after. It turned out that they liked the same things, which led to forming a new (discreet) friendship. Bryan hated the guts out of Tony and his goons, and Christopher and Joshua would never approve of Nadine's spiteful character, so they had to meet up every now and then in secret. During the time they spent together, Tony realized that he had a liking to her, and it grew each day. But how could he be with her? They were two people from different worlds, not to mention his moving to New York in the near future, though they had the same line of dreams. Would they ever work out or would it be yet again another sad ending in a hopeless story?
