Out patrolling with his father, Shoto Todoroki sees someone towering over the ledge of a broad building. Believing the boy will jump, Shoto scrambles to save him. That's when he encounters Midoriya for the first time. The young boy is reckless and arrogant, but something about him easily reels Shoto in. As they start talking, Midoriya abruptly ends their conversation, leaving his notebook behind. Mere hours later, Shoto tries to return the notebook, and meets Izuku instead.
