Senior year had never seemed so daunting. After her sister died, Avery found out just how much she hid behind Riley and how comfortable it had been to live through her stories instead of living her own. Realizing that and making a change, however, were two different things, as Avery soon understood. But life had not given her much of a choice. Maintaining a safe distance between herself and all those who used to know Riley was her miserable attempt at dealing with the grief. But she saw her strategic plan crumble, forced to face the friends she had been pushing away. The year she believed she could breeze through was revealing itself to be the year she must face all the pain she had been repelling. And there was no one to hide behind now. ✨COMPLETED✨ I took a few steps before I stopped to face him again. "Jay?" I said, barely above a whisper. "Hmm?" "I love you. You know that right?" I asked, kind of unsure. "of course. Of course I do." He said, scrunching his eyebrows as if he doesn't understand why I would randomly say that. "I love you very much." I repeated, every bone in my body aching from this pain, this betrayal. What I'm doing, or going to do, is definitely some form of betrayal. But I don't have a choice, right? He needs to understand that I don't have a choice. Or do I? "I do too. But...Why are you saying it like that?" He asked, feeling a little anxious. "Like what?" I replied, praying to dear God he doesn't say something that'll make me cry. "Like you're saying goodbye." 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 Alexis Pierce is just another high school clumsy story.
