14 year old Claire is an orphan. She and her best friend Cress have control over light and darkness. When they hear about Sophie Foster, a girl who passed up going to a university and instead went to a public school she thinks that Sophie might be able to control light and darkness, like Claire and Cress. When Dex finds them in the lost cities he immediately knows that they are Elves. He brings them to the Lost Cities where they learn about the how the keepers defeated the Neverseen, and about everything else. A few weeks ago Linh went missing leaving no trace. Does Claire know anything about Linh? What does Cress know? What happened to Linh? Is Claire... Linh...? They look almost exactly the same.
