In 1872, aspiring writer Lady Victoria Maria Grey aka Maria becomes engaged to the boorish but handsome Lord Peter Thomas to save her family from financial ruin. Though clashing at first with the feisty Maria, Peter soon discovers that he is in love with her! He soon ends the engagement, knowing that she would never be happy with him. When Maria becomes engaged to General Robert Taylor, she realizes that she is in love with both men! As Maria's wedding day approaches she learns a devastating secret about both men that unleashes a scandal upon the whole of London. As London is in the throes of scandal Maria learns about life, love and believing in herself .

I was inspired to write this  work in order to showcase what women went through during the Victorian era.
