When pre-med student Haley Holt gets a job as a live in tour guide for the Mikage Japanese American Heritage House she stumbles across a wardrobe that is a portal to a shrine all the way in japan! Once there she realizes that her "boss" made her the new land god of the shrine and took off into hiding. Now she has to deal with her fox spirit familiar Tomoe, who is less than thrilled to be serving a human girl who has never even been to Japan.
