Not so long ago, humanity fought the gods above them. The war against the Ethereals was long and bloody, and only the discovery of magic saved humanity from total annihilation. With the fusion of magic and technology, they clawed their way to a stalemate; in time, the war was over. Humanity had secured their freedom...or so they thought. The Ethereal War changed life on Earth forever. The world is now plagued by glyphstorms-- constant, magic-infused dust storms that drive those who linger too long to insanity. Traveling within them is thought to be impossible, and the only shelter comes in the form of magical shield domes over humanity's cities. Progress is rapid, yet isolated to pockets of civilization. In the same world where some people thrive, many others struggle, their spirits kept alive only by the hope of a better future. But the future is uncertain; until humanity can discover the secrets of shield tech and brave the storms that divide them, they will never be truly free. ------- This is a collection of short stories that take place within Solace, a fictional science-fantasy setting I have been working on since January 2025. Aetheria is a region with a vast number of breathtaking sights, calm towns and villages, and towering fortresses and castles. It's a must visit for anyone travelling across the continent of Terren. But Aetheria isn't particularly perfect. As some of the residents throughout the region aren't very ...well... ...human. And are as friendly as they are human. These types of individuals can vary from bloodsucking vampires and deceiving witches, to evil kingdoms and even corrupt demon overlords. All of these vile and dangerous forces are in a fight for control over the region against the remaining humans. And these humans are known as "The Vanguards". The Vanguards are an elite team of fighters, who's main objective is to keep fighting in order to reclaim their homes. Each member has their own backstories and motives, along with strengths and weaknesses. But in the end, they all share the same goal. To take back what used they used to call home, Aetheria.

A pre-apocalyptic world with two young main characters that try to survive due to a bombardment of gate portals, towers and new species destroying earth. They just might be the last humans on earth.
