Upon her father being appointed the position of House Mater, Tilda Alcombe moves into the hellhole that is Hallwood House. The third biggest house in Moreton College, Hallwood housed seventy or so stinking teenaged boys and was renowned for its academic excellence. Before entering the school grounds for the first time, she was told four things.

1. You are to use the back door and the back door only.

2. The building's old so the water will take a while to heat up. Just be patient, it really isn't that difficult.

3. Knock before entering your father's office, you don't want to embarrass yourself by walking into a meeting or a disciplinary, for that matter.

4. No fraternising with the Hallwood boys.
