My eyes are on the cage. I am watching her struggle for her life with the brute's hands around her neck. Her smaller, pale ones are on his but she is not exerting any effort to fight him off. Instead she turns her head towards the real monsters. Her eyes searching. Unsurprisingly, they stop on the top lounge. But her eyes continue searching soon after. My brows furrow slightly in confusion. She just looked past her only chance at survival. I don't understand what is her strategy. Then her brown eyes meet my own. And stop. She looks at me, eyes wider than ever before. I see uncontrollable amount of fear in them. They are becoming more bloodshed every second. Against all odds her eyes are still lucid, and holding my own. Reluctantly, behind all that fear I can recognize spots of relief.
I understand now. My eyes soften a tiny fraction. She want, no she needs to die. And I am sitting in the front row and watching it happen.
