As a child, Yoongi loved adventure novels. Compared to his normal life, the world of fantasy, magic, and sci-fi seemed much more interesting.
Unfortunately for Yoongi, reality was surprisingly cruel. He never developed supernatural powers. He never even saw a UFO. When he went to places that were rumored to be haunted, nothing showed up. Two hours of intense staring didn't make his pencil move a single millimeter and glaring at his classmate's head didn't reveal their thoughts to him. As he grew up, he couldn't help but be disappointed at how normal the laws of physics were. He began to stop watching for UFOs because he truly began to believe that those things were impossible.
By the end of high school, Yoongi had grown out of his fantasy world and became entirely grounded in reality. He reached a point where he only had a sense of nostalgia for those things. With these sorts of pedestrian thoughts in his mind, Yoongi graduated high school and became a normal college student.
Until he met Kim Taehyung.
"You're different from what I expected," she said softly.
"How so?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I don't know," she replied, searching for the right words. "You just... have this way of making people feel like they matter. Even here, in this... nightmare."
He was quiet for a moment before responding. "You matter, Y/n. Don't forget that."
