There once lived a woman in the woods. She had a mass of curly unruly black hair that seemed to be the centre of a void, yet her eyes were a clear and startling grey almost white. It was rumoured that she had lived in the woods for years, yet no one knew of her name. It is unknown as to where she came from or even if she truly existed. Yet there were rumours of her presence in the woods and the possible demonic acts that she was performing raising alarm throughout the village.
On rare occasions, the hunters would babble about a bewitching beauty that lived in the woods surrounded by nature, yet waiting to take their souls. The rumours of a mysterious woman that was said to be so beautiful, a beauty that could only be due to her dabbling in the dark arts even reached the heart of the kingdom. Curious by nature, the empowered emperor of the land travelled far and wide, without a care of what his Queen would say. Finally he reached the woods of the black-haired beauty. He and his knights searched for what seemed to be eons, before they reached the woman. Upon arrival the woman was asleep and unbeknown to her, her once peaceful and idle life was to forever change for the worst.

Nothing could compare to the way her gaze made me feel. The flames licking my skin and the raging fire in my veins was way more bearable. Life was going okay...until I found out I had a stalker. That's when everything changed. ~~~~~ That’s when I heard the fence give way. I bolted for my left and sprinted as fast as I could. The rain burned my eyes and I had no idea where I was going. I was running blindly in a dark alleyway to God knew where. And, somehow, I knew I wouldn’t make it through without being caught. All of a sudden, I felt myself hurtling through the air. I let out a scream when my head made sickeningly painful contact with the slimy ground beneath me. That’s when he caught up with me. That’s when he dragged me to my feet, only eyes visible beneath his black mask. That’s when he whispered, ‘Keep still, and you won’t get hurt.’ Stupidly and feebly, I thrashed in his grip. But one day, Daniel vanished and Eve never saw him again. Over time her parents died, and her name and kingdom were forgotten. Eve became poor and went to live with her friend Amber. Who worked at the bakery, in a small village called Shimmer. Eve lived there for years, working at the local tavern to earn money to help Amber. In a small village, half hidden along a mountainside, Kieren was slinking between shadows. Footsteps sure even with so little moonlight. The softest brush of bare skin against knobbled and far-reaching trees. Not even a whisper of sound from stepping on the coarse dirt beneath his feet. In this world, Drakes were the epitome of power amongst the species. Only making up 10% of the population, humans making up the other 90%. Drakes could be found in the highest positions of power in communities or in positions to protect others (such as guards, watchmen, knights, patrolman). No one questioned this, dragons taking care of their own. A private species with traditions and rules that only dragons were privy to. Making sure none over-reached so that there would always be peace and harmony amongst the dragon territories and between humans. A symbiosis that all worked hard to maintain. Humans were born with vibrant and colorful hair throughout the world. The more rare the color, the more blessings, respect, luck and riches came to them. Fiery red, leafy green, aqua blue. Eyes that matched their brightest feature. Dressing in the same colors or even brighter shades to demonstrate their extravagance, their standing in society. They normally worked side by side with the higher ranking dragons, helping to keep harmony. All Kieren knew was that he would have to remain cloaked, face obscured at all times. The villagers said he was a defect, so they made him their servant. His skin too pale. Form too slight. Eyes not right. An ugly thing where he should be thankful they did not kill him right away. To be grateful for their pity and staying their hand. The worst, they would tell him, was about the coloring of his features; his hair and eyes.
