Raina has come to terms with the fact that she won't live past her 18th birthday. She spends her time trying to help out the world as much as she can, mainly through volunteering at her local hospital and anonymously creating music for the world to enjoy. However, the summer before her 16th birthday, an unexpected catastrophe forces her to reunite with her childhood friend, Vi, who encourages Raina to enter the lottery for a brand new revolutionary school. From that summer onward, Raina's life flips upside-down, from meeting her idol to the return of a deadly virus that killed 2.3 billion people and was thought to have been eradicated 16 years ago. Throughout everything, Raina's life takes on a new meaning and she finds that she's not quite that ready to die after all.
