Dear Reader, This journal is my own personal journal. As you read, you will come across letters, school work, essays, entries, photos, drawings, etc,. on how I, myself, experienced and saw the world. Loving My Cousin (#Wattys 2017)
I put the grocery bags down after coming inside the house, setting my keys on the counter and placing the bags on the table, putting the stuff away, until I heard a voice. "FATIMA, FATIMA!" Mama was calling me, hm I wonder what for and why did she sound excited as well? "Yes mama? Ana in the kitchen Mama." She came in holding two papers. "We're going! We're going to Jerusalem, to see your cousin get married!" That's when my whole world crashes down. I'm going to Jerusalem ...that means I have to see my cousin Samer, whom I've avoided for 5 years, since I was 16. Ya Allah help me through this. I even remember when I left Amman 5 years ago, and let's just say that it didn't end well between a 16 year old and a 21 year old. ••••••• Fatima Zain, 21 years old college student and getting many proposals to get married has a hard time being her usual self after she left Amman, leaving behind her cousin Samer, whom she loves very much, but no one knows except got her close friend and cousin. Samer Zaid, 26 years old and is working as an engineer, has a hard time being himself after what happened 5 years ago with his cousin, feeling nothing but empty and guilty. Thought a girl kept being on his mind, but he wouldn't show or express who it is. What happens when these two meet again after 5 years of no communication with each other? Dear whatever, Or is it whoever? I don't know, I'm not a writer anyways. Hi, I'm Arielle, but please call me A, I'm sick of hearing my name, or anyname actually, it just bothers me that I'm not actually as special as they'd want me to believe. Who's they? Oh, I don't know, everyone? Society? Whatever, so I guess I should tell you what this is about, eh? I'm writing this so I have something to leave behind, some sort of purpose to stay here, in this world, in this reality. I guess another reason is so that people can understand me? Or anyone like me I guess. To know what goes on in my mind. This will be officially started on June 4, 2017, my birthday, and will end on June 4, 2018. Destined Hearts
Muhammad thought of Madeenah as a child, younger than his baby sister, although way more mature. She seemed to have created a bond with his daughter and that was all that came to his mind about her. Not her smooth caramel skin, or her captivating light brown eyes and neither did her sweet voice do it for him. Madeenah thought of Ya Muhammad as an arrogant and stoic person but a really good father. In truth she was terrified of him. She hated the way he would look at her, as though she was less important than him. She hated the way he never spoke unless he needed to. She hated the way his voice washed over her, making her shiver. She hated his height and how it made him tower over her small frame. She hated him but she just couldn't stop thinking about him. So what happens when the two end up being brought together by an unusual arrangement . He's older, she's younger. He has a daughter and she has barely begun life. Will he let go of the past and try to find happiness or will he drag her down with him? --------------------------------------- "Let's get married." He says with such a straight face that I feel stupid as I chuckle. "What did you just say?" I ask in disbelief. "You heard me Madeenah." He says in a gravelly tone. "Why would you want to marry me?" I shake my head. "You don't like me." "I like you well enough to be married to you." His broad shoulders shrug in his familiar black suit. What is going on with him? I had this idea last night after a few drinks, a pounding headache, and an excessive amount of throat lozenges. In order to inspire me to write more often than I currently do, I am planning to write a new post every day and publish it, allowing me to rant about whatever is on my mind. Anything goes with this story. Maybe I will talk about something deep and metaphysical about the meaning of human existence, or rant about why my life sucks and how I prefer iced tea over hot tea. Anything goes. This is just an inspiration to allow me to write SOMETHING every single day of the year. Hopefully I can keep up.... If I end up deleting this story, I guess you'll know that I failed.
